The 30th of May is dedicated to World Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Day, a day of information, awareness and solidarity with the millions of people living with the disease around the world. The initiative is coordinated by the MS International Federation and brings together patients, families, healthcare professionals and organisations with the shared goal of better understanding and addressing the disease.
For the 2024–2026 period, the central theme of the campaign is “My MS Diagnosis – Navigating MS Together,” with an emphasis on the early and accurate diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. The campaign highlights the challenges many patients face until they receive the correct diagnosis, and promotes better education for healthcare professionals, research, and equitable access to health services.
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune neurological condition that affects the central nervous system. Symptoms vary from person to person and may include fatigue, vision problems, difficulties with movement, balance disorders and cognitive difficulties. Although there is no definitive cure, modern treatments can slow the progression of the disease and significantly improve patients’ quality of life.
This year’s day is a reminder that early diagnosis, proper medical care, information and social support can make a real difference in the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Every story matters, and every step towards understanding the disease contributes to a society that is more inclusive and supportive for all.
Message of the day:
“Together we can strengthen awareness, break down stereotypes, and support every person living with Multiple Sclerosis.” 💙
