Hemophilia is an inherited disorder in which the blood does not clot properly, due to a deficiency of specific clotting factors. This can lead to prolonged bleeding, even from minor injuries.
Why was April 17 chosen?
The date honors the birthday of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.
