In September 2011, he was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Health for postgraduate training at the Diabetes Center of Laiko Hospital of the Medical School of Athens, under Professor Nikolaos Tentolouris. This led to his inclusion in the newly established Diabetes Clinic in Primary Care at the Old Larnaca Hospital and his participation in the European diabetic patient monitoring program EuBIROD. From 2013 until August 2019, he also operated the Diabetes Clinic in Primary Care once a week at the Kofinou Primary Health Center. From September 2019, together with his collaborators and partners Dr. Alona Koukouma Kioutenian and Dr. Petros Kioutenian, they fulfilled their shared vision by creating a model Family Medicine Center, aiming to provide high-quality medical services in a dignified, human-centered environment. From July 2020, the ScalaMed Medical Center was upgraded to a clinic, further expanding its services to the people of Larnaca.
From the onset of the pandemic, even before the SARS-CoV-2 virus appeared in Cyprus, he undertook responsibility for establishing a COVID-19 wing at the Eden Resort rehabilitation center. For two years, he served as the supervising physician for patients who tested positive for the virus and were accommodated there.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time in nature and capturing it through the lens of his camera. In recent years, he has also developed an interest in observing constellations and planets at an amateur level. His photographs are exhibited for sale at the premises of the ScalaMed Medical Center, and all proceeds are donated to charitable causes.
All of this is made possible with the support of his wife, Lena, and their two children, Vasia and Nefeli, who encourage him daily with patience and understanding.
